Howard Stern Show, SiriusXM App Adds Ability to Change Playback Speed
I am often woefully behind on my Howard Stern Show episodes, which I listen to through the SiriusXM App on my smartphone, tablet, or computer. With a show that lasts nearly four hours, it can be very difficult to keep up, especially with the mix of things I listen to on a daily basis.
This mix includes the Economist (and the Atlantic) through the Overcast App; The New Yorker via its mobile application; various podcasts, including Bill Simmons, Marc Maron, Joe Rogan, Bill Burr, and more; and a plethora of Audible audio books. The advantage with all of these has always been the ability to manipulate playback speed (i.e. listening at 1.2, 1.5, 2.0 speed), in addition to the innovative "minimize silence" at normal speeds within the Overcast app.
The Howard Stern Show, though, has stubbornly always been at just one speed: normal! With a show as good as it is, that is fine. However, because of its length and because episodes eventually expire, maximizing listening time can be tough.
Imagine my pleasant surprise when I saw the following today:
While I will probably still listen frequently to the Howard Stern Show at normal speed, knowing that I can clear the backlog at my preferred 1.5x speed is a great development in my efforts to keep up with The King of All Media.
